Alpha Solutions has, in cooperation with the trade union Dansk Metal, developed an application framework which is used for a number of internal applications, a new Dansk Metal homepage, and a multi-site solution for both Dansk Metal’s branches and a number of campaign websites.
Dansk Metal Framework
Since 2004 Alpha Solutions has developed a framework and a functionality set which binds Dansk Metal’s technological infrastructure together with an application development platform based on Sitecore and SOA.
Recently this framework was upgraded to Sitecore version 6, after originally being based on version 5. Alpha Solutions’ framework handles other central components such as user control via LDAP, member data in trade systems, and wage and salary information etc, and exposes them via a common service-oriented access layer.
Member administration tool
Alpha Solutions has developed a member administration platform called MJS (Members, Jobs, Service). The goal of this application is to improve the task of job referrals, which case handlers perform both in connection with unemployed members and with companies’ vacant positions for qualified staff.
This is performed via a range of matching-tools, where the case handler can use criteria from both Dansk Metal’s own data systems and by defining criteria from L.O.’s (national trade union umbrella organisation ) course database or Arbejdsmarkedsstyrelsen’s (national employment board) Jobnet systems. The solution performs an automatic merge of information from these external systems with the information Dansk Metal possesses itself.
This solution has become a central system in the portfolio of tools which Dansk Metal utilises.
Salary statistics tool
Another central tool for Dansk Metal is the Lønstatistik (wage and salary statistics) tool, which is also established on the platform. This tool gives Dansk Metal the possibility for collecting and computing period-based wage and salary statistics.
These statistics are collected from companies with agreements with Dansk Metal, and from Dansk Metal’s offices, via a web interface – with great possibilities for re-using information from previous input. The solution results in both electronic and printed publications, which Dansk Metal uses publically in relation to agreement negotiations and suchlike.
Event planning tool
In order to support Dansk Metal’s organisation of events (meetings, courses), a configurable solution which supports the definition of and subscription to event on either a national or regional basis has been made.
These events can either be available publically (anyone can subscribe) or a specific group of participants can be invited, who can subscribe or unsubscribe to a number of individual sessions at an event via the solution.
Subscription to events is integrated with Dansk Metal’s existing system for handling events for the Metal-school – Dansk Metal’s own course centre. In this way, there is no need for a manual transfer of information from the system which has received the subscriptions to the course centre.
